During the June 2017 Connecticut legislative session, the Connecticut General Assembly enacted Public Act 17-93 which made provisions to adopt the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Food Code by reference.
Prior to this legislation, Connecticut was operating on their own food regulations which were not completely aligned to the FDA Food Code. The Code consists of model requirements to help assure food safety and safeguard public health. The 2017 FDA Food Code becomes effective throughout the state on July 1, 2018.
